Skin Tags & Warts Differences

Warts are like little non cancerous tumors found on the body. Common warts are one of the many Human papillomavirus strains found on the body. There are as many as 100 different wart strains that can occur on ones person. Warts can be bothersome but not painful. Warts are small bumps on the body which can be white clusters which are said to look like cauliflower, little red bumps or sometimes flat circular bumps which can appear on the neck. Warts can vary in size and number and be anywhere on the body.

What is a Skin Tag?

A skin tag is a small piece of skin which hangs off the skin and can look as if it is attached. Skin tags are relatively common and can very in color and size. They can be the color of a person's skin or a deeper pigment. The scientific name for skin tags is acrochordon. Skin tags are more likely to appear on the eyelids, groin area and neck, but they can occur anywhere on the body. Skin tags are common in middle aged people but can occur on much younger persons.

Visual Differences

First both conditions, warts and skin tags are harmless conditions. Warts are caused by the HPV virus where as skin tags are just a random condition. There is no explanation for why people get skin tags.

Skin tags are a small piece of skin which protrudes off the body and can be irregular in shape. Warts are more cylindrical and have a different texture compared to skin tags. Warts also come in different colors and can be clustered or come in pink or deeper shades, where as skin tags are directly skin colored or a darker shade of skin color. Both warts and skin tags are harmless conditions, relatively common and can be equally unappealing to the eye of the person who carries them. Skin tags and warts can both be treated the same way, using all natural essential oils.
